  2. Hot! Really hot! But I have a question : when you see an actor wearing briefs in a movie or a TV show, is he wearing his own briefs or are they provided by the production?

    1. They are provided by the production company generally, as they are part of the costume. Anything that is visible is planned. Plus, if you look closely, they usually add an extra layer, or extra padding, to the briefs/underwear to control what may be visible. Not always, but you do see that as well.

    2. It depends entirely on the production. I’ve worked on dozens of indie movies and more often than not actors wear their own clothes.

    3. If it's a big production then it will come from the costume department on the advice of the director. If it's being seen on camera, it is part of wardrobe and thus deliberately chosen to be worn for the character.

Some small productions (thin student films, really low-budget indies, small budget shorts, etc.) don't have the money for a costume department and actors will wear their own clothes, but unless you're a big film buff you probably aren't watching many films that low-budget.

    4. True but like literally dozens of low budget indies are capped on this site. And even if there is a budget and a costume department, actors often supply or are asked to supply at least pieces of their own wardrobe on all level of indie films, whether ultra low budget or in the 4 mil range. I'm an actor, I've worked a ton for many years, there are caps of multiple things I've worked on this site are things that A LOT of people have seen and there are people wearing their own clothes in them. It's not even a budget thing it's a comfort and convenience thing at times. Sorryyyyy but it's true.

    5. It must be very low budget productions. As a writer or a director, I would never let someone else choose what costumes a character wears. This is valid for all these clothes visible on the screen. Each item of clothing must correspond to the character, the time, the social environment and the atmosphere desired for the film.
This garment can be worn for several days in a row and be exactly the same ... if it is the personal clothing of the actor, he risks changing or modifying it by washing it.
Finally, what an actor wears in life can be very different from what his character should wear.

    6. The movie Evilution (capped here) has a scene with a guy in white briefs. On the DVD commentary the director and actor discuss the underwear. The director says the producers wanted the actor in boxers but that he fought for briefs because he thought it was what the character would wear and thought briefs would make the scene funnier. The actor said he had no problem with wearing the briefs so the briefs were used. The actor kept the underwear.

On the commentary for The Brotherhood VI: Initiation, DeCoteau and the main actor also discuss underwear since the characters spent most of the movie in their underwear. DeCoteau said he went to a store and bought several pairs of underwear for each actor to choose from since they would wear two pairs in the movie. The actor says that everyone else got a bag full of boxer-briefs while his bag contained only briefs. DeCoteau claimed ignorance and just assumed the actor chose to wear briefs over boxer-briefs.

  4. I asked the comedian actor than Roy O played a very nerdy teacher in the comedy central series those who can’t…. In episode one of season one he is woken up and he’s wearing a white T-shirt white briefs and white socks so I asked him the same question was that what you wore or was that decided on and he told me point blank that they made the decision that because of the character he would be a guy that wore white briefs same with Josh Jackson in a pretty little lies in his very famous episode where he is seen in white briefs with Reese Witherspoon they asked himThey made the decision that has a 40 year old dad he would be wearing dad Briefs and he said not Calvin Klein or 2exist regular old tidy Whiteys like Haynes or Fruit of the Loom but he did not say which brand he was wearing so I think it’s all character-based

    1. I mean TV is totally different than movies in that the wardrobe and every minute decision is communicated to and approved by corporate executives.
