Well, thrusting on a woman would have been an unusual experience for Tom Alexander. He was gay in real life. Sadly, he died of AIDS in 1992. His boyfriend, who was twenty years older than him, recounts his death in the book Recovering from the Loss of a Loved One to AIDS by Katherine Fair Donnelly.
