OK, I admit this one isn't much but I always had a think for Adam (middle guy) back in the day but the only time he showed himself in underwear (in videos) he was in boxers. Based on this picture it looks like he wore white briefs also (or in his personal life). "Paul's Boutique" is still a great album.
He more than likely wore briefs as most guys did in the 1980s. It's very unlikely the guy wearing boxers in the pic actually wore boxers in real life. Either he didn't want a pic in briefs or they thought showing him in briefs would be too racy.
ReplyDeleteIt seems to me that men started to wear boxers in the late 80's to look cool, as in be different. Unfortunately those bastards started a trend.
DeleteI think younger guys really began wearing briefs in the early 90s when Rap music became popular. The 90s were a bad time! Especially with the introduction of boxer briefs. In the old days you could tell if a guy was wearing boxers or briefs if you were able to see his waistband. With boxer briefs they had the same waistband and material as briefs and so you couldn't tell what they were except you knew they weren't boxers.

ReplyDeletechanged thanks
DeleteThose boys are pretty fly for white guys. The only thing this picture is missing is me pulling Adams pants down.
ReplyDeleteTony
Looks like vintage Hanes with the red and black waistband.
ReplyDeleteI honestly can't remember anyone I knew--myself included--who wore boxers in the 80s. It was briefs all the way.
ReplyDeleteI went to high school in the late 70s and I remember only 2 or 3 guys total who wore boxers. Everyone else wore briefs.
DeleteI went to high school in the early-to-mid 90s. At the beginning, it was mostly tighty whities and some bikini briefs. Around my Junior year was when boxers started to make a huge rise.
DeleteI went to high school in the early 2000s and by that time it was mostly boxers, some boxer briefs. What a shitty time to see guys change in a locker room.
DeleteThis reminds me of this great waistband photo I always loved of Mark McGrath of Sugar Ray where he's clearly wearing white briefs: http://imagecache5d.allposters.com/watermarker/18-1870-HKX8D00Z.jpg
ReplyDeleteAlways loved that one too .... think I'll post it, thanks
