Nick Fury wasn't black until the early 2000s. The original Nick Fury was a white guy with a mustache.
Actually I think Fury is still white in the "general" Marvel universe but is black in the "ultimate" universe and the movies. Or have they just changed it in all incarnations?
You're probably right. I haven't read much aside from the Ultimate stuff for quite a while, so it wouldn't surprise me if that was still the case.
