You know judging by the condition of a lot of the guy's underwear in the yard scene (some all torn up), it would appear the Wyoming Department of Corrections didn't issue their prisoners prison issued underwear. So these guy are supposedly wearing the underwear they wore when incarcerated.....MMMM Tighty Whities...the underwear choice of the real bad boys....works for me!
I haven't ever seen Viggo Morgentsen better looking than in this movie. Happy that it is THE movie where he is exposed, a long while, in his tighty whities. I loooooove the hole in his briefs. Of course, those underwear are chosen by the director and/or the wardrobe. And they chose something realistic for bad boys. You can't imagine a movie director saying to his actors : strip to your own underwear, whaterver it is. But may be, Viggo loved those briefs so much, he kept it after the shooting and is still wearing them underneath.
I agree Viggo definitely looked his best in this movie. He was full frontal naked in Indian Runner, but in this movie he was just plain flat HOT and not just his natural charisma but his character in the movie was so well played as the bad boy who was innocent. His facial expressions and natural charm in this movie made me fall in love with him. I know it was his character in this movie I fell in love with and not him because I didn't feel the same way in his other movies. Still, I wouldn't kick him out of bed for eating crackers. Probably the wardrobe people handed out underwear to the guys and told them to throw them on the ground and get them dirty and put them on and had some of them rip them up a little to make it look authentic. (Wouldn't that had been a sight to watch all these guys putting on their wardrobe underwear), I just think it's funny that the movie depicted these guys wearing these old dirty torn up underwear but they were issued prison pants, shirts and shoes. Are we to believe that the underwear they wore were their own personal underwear that they have been wearing since they were arrested? That's almost sexy to think about. Did they only have one pair? Unfortunately but willing I admit that the times I have been thrown in jail, I was issued jail underwear....I guess not in Wyoming.
I could be wrong but I think in jail you are issued underwear but in prison you can wear what you want (my friend in prison had me send him underwear once).
Is that a hole in Viggo Mortensen's underwear? Wonder if it was deliberate.
