Used to love watching this show growing up! Also it looks like the writers wanted Bryan Cranston and other main cast in tightey whiteys, but according to an article Frankie Muniz,said either boxers or nothing LOL
It's interesting. I once saw an interview with Bryan Cranston where the host asked him about the fact that in both "Malcolm in the Middle" and "Breaking Bad" he was always in tighty whities and he responded that both scripts had that specifically in them which made sense because Hal in "Malcolm" was still a boy and Walter White just didn't care anymore. That pretty much sums up the usage of TWs in contemporary movies in TV shows, if you want a male character it appear dorkie, harmless, innocent, "the boy next door" or even chaste, put in him in white briefs, or if you want your male character to look like he's given up on life also put him in TWs :)
